Goodwick Moor & Parrog
The
Seaview Hotel is positioned adjacent
to one of Pembrokeshire’s well-kept secrets for
those who are lovers of nature and wildlife. Goodwick
Moor can be found just across the parrog, in between
the Seaview and Goodwick Village. It provides an engaging
backdrop to the spectacular seascape. Take a walk around
the boardwalk to view the natural beauty of the moor
all year round and enjoy the sumptuous plant and wildlife.
This 15 hectares nature reserve is leased and managed
by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. Wildlife
Trust Volunteers take responsibility for much of its
management. The reserve is covered by an extensive
reed bed which supports breeding Sedge and Reed warbler
and provides cover for the elusive otter. The scrub
and wet woodland provides habitat for Willow warbler
and Cetti's warbler has been recorded as a winter visitor
together with Bittern.
Down on the Parrog, overlooking Fishguard Harbour,
you can enjoy the beach and children’s play area
or the Ocean Lab, which provides all
the facilities of a typical tourist
centre but with something extra. The Ocean Lab will
shortly be presenting a new exhibition about the Ice
Age, on loan from the National Museum of Wales for this
year only. The Tourist Centre will assist you with all
enquiries about the area, including numerous activities
and events to accommodate every visitor.
