Barbara Price - Local Artist and
Exhibitor at The Seaview Hotel
Although Barbara is trained in textiles her main passion
remains painting
(oils , watercolour, pastels and more recently collage), as it enables more
freedom, the range of techniques vary with the subject matter. The main inspiration
for her work comes from the ever changing light of Pembrokeshire and the effect
this has on the mood of the subject. Her more recent work has been concentrating
on portraits and figures, starting from an underlying idea based on a sketch
and photographs, which then develops spontaneously.
Her textile work has won her a prize at the National
Eisteddfod, exhibited at the Commonwealth textile exhibition
in Edinburgh, where she was asked to demonstrate and
again in London. Barbara’s paintings have won
prizes at the Fishguard Music Festival exhibition and
at Artfest as well as being selected for the RI. annual
exhibition, in the Mall galleries, London and at many
other galleries nationally.
Barbara Price will be working with us at The Seaview
Hotel to facilitate art workshops and demonstration
days. Please contact us if
you are interested in more information.
The Oriel
Glan y Mor gallery exhibits
work at The Seaview Hotel throughout the year inviting
you to enjoy a glimpse of the beauty of Pembrokeshire’s
spectacular scenery, culture and treasures whilst
staying
with us. You can purchase any of the paintings on display
or venture into Fishguard to view a wider array of
local
art.
This charming and friendly gallery is situated in the
centre of Fishguard, just off the roundabout on Market
Square. Owned by artists Margaret Jones and Beth Robinson
(also known as the opera singer Beth Michael) it is
an Aladdin’s cave of art and craftwork by local
artists and craftspeople. You’ll find original
paintings from £30 upwards as well as prints and
cards. Much of the artwork depicts the beautiful scenery
of North Pembrokeshire, but there is also a selection
of nudes and still life. The craftwork includes handmade
jewellery, basketware, pottery, wooden bowls and boxes,
hand made felt, silk painted scarves and cushions, fun
jigsaws, and a host of unusual and decorative gifts.
There are various exhibitions scheduled throughout
the season including Flowers
and Figures from 28th June until 25th July – an
exhibition of the work of the late Royston Hopson
featuring
paintings completed just before his death earlier this
year.
There are many more galleries and craft centres
in and around Fishguard for you to enjoy. Why not spend
a few days with us at The Seaview Hotel and explore?
